Our Mission Statement

Heart and Hand House,Inc.,is a non-profit mission project affiliated with the United Methodist Church and is located in north central West Virginia.  It exists because of the clear Christian mandate to minister to the physical, mental, spiritual and emotional needs of in-crisis, low-income people of Barbour County, WV.

Our ministry programs include a food pantry; a home repair and construction program; assistance with utilities, rent, and certain medical expenses; providing layettes for newborn babies; and a backpack feeding program for local school children. We also operate two thrift stores and The Market Place, home of our Community Garden Market.

Our office is open Monday-Friday
10 a.m. to Noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy,
and to walk humbly with your God. – Micah 6:8

Our Fundraising Challenge continues!  As of the end of May we have collected a little over $11,000 toward our 2015 goal of $100,000.  That means we still need 890 contributors to give $100 each.  The gift can be a $100 lump sum donation, or if that is too much at one time, please consider a smaller, monthly contribution from now through the end of the year.  Donations may be made by mail, through PayPal on our website, or dropped off at any of our ministry locations. Credit card donations may also be made by calling our office or stopping by The Market Place in Philippi.  Thank you in advance for helping us reach our fundraising goals and supporting the work we do!
