Heart and Hand House,Inc., is a non-profit mission project affiliated with the United Methodist Church and is located in north central West Virginia. It exists because of the clear Christian mandate to minister to the physical, mental, spiritual and emotional needs of in-crisis, low-income people of Barbour County, WV.

Our ministry programs include a food pantry; a home repair and construction program; assistance with utilities, rent, and certain medical expenses; providing layettes for newborn babies; and a backpack feeding program for local school children. We also operate two thrift stores and The Market Place, home of our Community Garden Market.

Our office is open Monday-Friday
10 a.m. to Noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
– Micah 6:8

The “Souper Bowl of Caring” is a national movement to fight hunger and poverty in communities across our country around the time of the Super Bowl football game.  In the week leading up to, or on Super Bowl Sunday, participating groups are urged to take up a collection for people in need, asking for $1 or one item of food from each donor. Visit www.souperbowl.org for information, resources and a "game plan" for your church or organization, or give us a call at 304-457-1295.

Heart and Hand will be hosting the Second Annual “Souper” Bowl party, to be held at The Market Place in Philippi, on Sunday evening, February 7, beginning at 5 p.m.  Cost of admission is a can of soup for the Heart and Hand food pantry.  Everyone is invited to don their favorite team attire, bring a covered dish and come watch the big game with friends and neighbors.  There will be trivia games and door prizes, too!
